A Matter of Meaning

The search for meaning is so fundamental in defining our core values, the self. The journey to self-discovery leads us to paths strewn with dangers and difficulites. Along the way we sometimes stumble upon drugs and chemicals that promise the Garden of Eden, and realize later that its ephemeral joy ultimately leads to the gates of hell. Sometimes we find ourselves taking the path to an inner journey through intellectual discovery and the search for inner peace. We abandon the world, our families, and whatever other worldly possessions we have, in exchange for the promise of personal liberation. We do all these to find meaning and overcome the overwhelming fear of our perceived "insignificance."
