What more can one hope for than a night filled with almost every major comedian and hilarious TV actor and actress. The 2012 Comedy Awards taped at New York City?s Hammerstein Ballroom Saturday night, and we were there covering the red carpet and ceremony. Social TV was everywhere. A #ComedyCentral-covered step and repeat,a hilarious social media bit in the show with Ty Burrell and Andy Richter, red carpet interviews for ComedyCentral.com with Julie Klausner and insights from some of TV?s most hilarious stars (including Amy Poehler and Louis C.K.) on living in a digital ? scroll down for our video interviews.

First, here?s an inside look at social TV highlights from the show plus an interview with Comedy Central VP of Digital and Social Marketing Don Steele on how the network?s planning to use social for the May 6th airing of the awards on TV.

Lost Remote: What social marketing went into the Comedy Awards?-

Don Steele: We have been very active in Social Marketing from the announcements of nominations, talent attending and presenting tothe tapingandits network premiereon Sunday. We have been using thecomedycentral.com andthecomedywards.com Websites and social profilesto drive voting and keepfans up-to-date on all talent additions. It is always really exciting to see the fans of the Nominees get involved in the process and we work hard to recognize and encourage that behavior.

LR: The show will be airing this Sunday, May 6th. What campaigns will you be running? What partners will you be working with?

DS: The show airs on Sunday, May 6 and on that day we have both the YouTube Masthead and the Twitter Trending topic. We felt these two ad products do a great job of making the show a can?t miss part of the digital day for our audience. They also encourage sampling and conversation. We also have ads on Hulu and Funny or Die to help get the word out there. We want to be talking to the Comedy fan in a variety of different places and ways. There is a big On- Air plan for the show as well really driving tune-in. We also have had a great partnership with New York and Co. and that partnership has helped provide us with some great outdoor and Taxi TV advertising here in New York.

LR: What digital/social awards were there this year?

DS: Six of The Comedy Awards23categorieshave or are being chosen from fan votes. During the broadcast, we will be encouraging our fans to vote live forBest Comedy Podcast, Best Comedy App, Best Remix/Mash-up/Supercut, Funniest Person on Twitter and Breakout Performer. Wefeelthat having voting for these categoriesand announcing the winnersduring the broadcast on Sunday gives fans a further way to participate in the show.We also hadThe Viral Original category, whichwas hosted on YouTubeand recognized during the taping.

LR: What were the social TV strategies for Saturday night?s taping?

DS: We do not shy away from the fact that the taping happens before the broadcast. We were super active the night of taping in trying to do things to make people know the event was happening and doing what we can to bring them to the event. We still have a great experience on our site planned for Sunday that will pull back the curtain even further on the night with pictures, videos and more from the taping.

Which Parks and Recs cast members are on Twitter?

We caught up with Parks and Recs? Jim O?Heir (Jerry Gergich) on the red carpet at the Comedy Awards. O?Heir has nearly twenty-thousands followers and even he can?t believe it. In the following interview with Lost Remote he talks about how his publicist convinced him to join, how Nick Offerman (Ron Swanson) tried it for a day then stopped, how Amy Poehler will never tweet and how Aziz Ansari kills them all in 140-characters or less.

Later on in the night we asked Amy Poehler why she doesn?t tweet. Watch Amy Poehler answer that ?Twitter seems like a nightmare to me,? at 1:40 seconds in this clip:

The newest Daily Show correspondent Jessica Williams on how social helped her career:

22-year-old Jessica Williams is the newest Daily Show correspondent. In this red carpet interview we asked her how being a ?digital native? helped her career grow so quickly. ?We can just google someone and see their set?that gives me a broader view of what?s out there,? Williams describes how she?s built a uniquepresencefor herself at such a young age.

Andy Richter, Ty Burrell, Louis C.K. and videos from the Comedy Awards:

One of the funniest clips of the show was a social media bit between Conan?s Andy Richter and Modern Family?s Ty Burrell. You can watch a full playlist of clips, including Louis C.K. talking about selling his comedy show on his website here.
